what do i post?
I hear this question alllll the time: what do I post?!
I wanted to share with you a list of questions that are part of the ones I use to help my clients when they’re feeling stuck with their content, especially on Instagram. I’m so grateful that I’m in communities with so many wonderful humans, and I honestly look at my business as a way to help them amplify their unique message to their dream clients.
First of all: don’t be afraid to share your personality in your content. Especially if you’re a service provider who will be working with people one-on-one. People will want to know more about you before agreeing to work with you.
Okay, let’s dive in on these content prompts! Don’t edit yourself. You can do that later. This part is just for coming up with as many content ideas as you can for now. You can pick the best ones when it’s time to make the actual content plan.
(btw, this exercise is done best when you’re in a good mood. Maybe grab a fun beverage, put on some music that gets you in a happy mood or head to your favorite coffee shop to get this brainstorming done.
Here we goooooo:
✅ What questions do you regularly get from your audience? What are people asking you in the DMs, comments, comment section of others in your niche? Pull ideas from what people are already asking you.
✅ Take that a step further: what questions do you want them to ask you? What should they be asking you?
✅ What’s a mistake in your business that ended up turning into a positive? Tell that story. It’s so important to be transparent, but it adds a level to it if you’re able to show that you grew from it. If your potential clients can learn something along the way, even better.
✅ Give your audience something they can use right away. This can be a “beginners guide to __,” or explaining something that you see a lot of people struggle with. Giving them a quick win builds trust quickly.
✅ Share the “before and after.” You can get this information by asking previous clients for both parts of it directly. I have a feedback form that asks what it was like before and what it’s like now so that I can use my actual clients’ language in my content.
✅ Menu of Services. I recommend sharing this monthly. I like to do this in one of two ways: either a standalone graphic that says “Menu of Services” or “Work with me in (month)” and then I type it out in the caption (use this if you’re going to be making updates or need to update availability) or I create a carousel where each slide explains one offer in detail.
✅ What are you learning in your business? What podcasts are you listening to? What courses are you taking? What books are you reading? Share those little nuggets of wisdom you’re learning with your audience so they can learn from them, too. This also shows that you’re committing to continuing to learn and improve for your audience. You can also tag the person you’re learning from and they might amplify it or reply.
✅ What's it like working with you? Talk about how your process works, something you do to make sure that your client gets their desired result or something you've changed along the way and why.
✅ Pick an offer you want to highlight and do a “this offer is perfect for ___” post listing who your dream client is.
If you’re looking for more support with your content, here are a couple ways I can help!
Content & Community is a monthly membership with weekly coworking calls to help you get your content done, a Slack workspace for questions that come up along the way, monthly brainstorming calls where we go through the exercise above together, plus video modules and templates to keep you organized along the way.
I also offer Content Coaching! We start with a monthly strategy call where we can build your plan for the month ahead together, then the call is followed by 30 days of Slack support to help keep you accountable and answer any questions that might come up. Send me an email at contact@brittdoessocial.com to learn more about this one!
